Siberian Husky
Puppy -
Before you buy, part 1
Sharing your life with a Siberian husky puppy can be a wonderful and
rewarding experience. Studies have showed people who own pets seem to
cope better with stress and are also happier and healthier. Taking care
of pets can provide meaning to one’s life; the love and affection one
gets back from one’s dog is priceless.
Owning a Siberian husky puppy can be very fun, however, this is no easy
task. Each dog breed was created by humans for a specific purpose.
Before you decide you want to acquire a Siberian husky puppy, you should
make sure you know:
1) How much time can you and are willing to devote to your Siberian
husky puppy (Pets are like children; you have to invest time into them
if you want them well behaved)
2) What kind of temperament would you like your puppy to have? (Do you
want a friendly dog or do you want a dog with good guarding instincts to
keep strangers away? Words of caution, a Siberian husky puppy will not
be a good guardian)
3) What kind of role is your pet going to play in your life? (Will it be
a companion, a show dog, a guard dog, etc.?)
Lack of definite answers to these essential questions is the reason why
owners become unhappy with their dogs and eventually abandon them. Many
people purchased a Siberian husky puppy only to realize later on this
was not the dog for them. Generally speaking, a Siberian husky puppy is
a sturdy, friendly, creature with lots of stamina and a slightly shy but
mischievous predisposition.
Siberian Huskies were created and used by Nordic native tribes to carry
things by sleds, guard livestock, and warm up the tents on very cold
winter nights. This meant a Siberian husky puppy had to have a nice,
friendly temperament in order to be trusted around children.
Despite its wolfish looks, a Siberian husky puppy is nowadays not meant
for guarding, because of its overly friendly nature. A Siberian husky
puppy is very intelligent, resourceful, loves to run, and doesn’t get
tired easily. Your Siberian husky puppy will need a lot of daily
exercise and will most likely pull tirelessly on the leash, unless you
can teach it otherwise. Do you have what it takes to raise a Siberian
husky puppy?
